R.O.O.T.S. (Reinventing Ourselves Outside The System) is an organization committed to improving the quality of life for citizens re-entering society, reducing recidivism and enhancing life skills. We provide re-entering citizens who face adverse challenges with an opportunity to succeed.
Our organization is comprised of re-entering citizens and professionals that specialize in mental health, human services and entrepreneurship.
What makes us different from any other group is that we share the common peril of having been locked up and involved in the Richmond City Jail B.E.L.I.E.F. Program. The B.E.L.I.E.F. program has instilled the principle of honesty which is the cornerstone of our transformation and transition to the outside. We realized that we could increase our rate of success on the outside if we reinforced the program principles and tools in the areas of substance abuse, anger management, employment skills and the importance of parenthood along with additional training in self awareness, healthy decision making, behavior modification and S.M.A.R.T. goal setting.
We identify ourselves to be a beacon of hope for those in the communities, schools, treatment centers, jails and institutions who have been stagnated by similar challenges and have lost the motivation to thrive. Having that common bond and connection is an awesome tool for inspiring change.
The ROOTS foundation is spiritual by nature – God is the foundation in which we trust, build and grow.
